BACHELOR OF COMPUTER APPLICATIONS (BCA) -BCU

OBJECTIVES

The program aims to educate students in the science and practice of IT. The emphasis is on hands-on practical training of software designing and development. The curriculum prepares students for a career in software development and programming.

The program enables the student to be updated on the latest revolution in technology and equips him/her with the required skills and knowledge to assimilate into the industry at ease. The content delivery is uniquely complemented by extensive practical training.

The information technology revolution has paved the way to the most exciting vista of careers the world has ever seen. Once an elite career in the west, today India stands number one among software professionals. Thanks to the ever-growing computer institutes and the government policies, this made a major breakthrough with the introduction of different, IT courses at various levels. The computer application sector offers a wide range of specialist jobs that are challenging as the machines become more and more sophisticated, demanding new skills or different combinations of existing ones.

India, the computer industry has been growing at a phenomenal rate of 45% per annum, making it amongst the fastest growing sectors of the economy. When compared to pure computer science, the number of professionals graduating with specialization in computer application has been on the rise. The reason being the availability of very user-friendly development tools whereby any specific background is not a requirement for student pursuing courses in computer application like BCA.

The young graduates manage the change processes that are inevitably initiated by the introduction of technology into their workplace and they have to manage the operational aspects of business and organizational activities founded on computing and communication technology, including the development of new computer based activities. They are trained to be responsible for organizational change and organizational performance. These future computer experts are familiarized with practical development of the principal technology of information systems, database management systems (DBMS) and system definition, design and development as well.

ELIGIBILITY

Pass in 10 + 2 / PUC or equivalent with minimum 40% of marks in all the subjects, including languages.
